Extracurricular Activities

Hanover Academy Activities

At Hanover Academy, we blend our academic philosophy into our extracurricular activities. We recognize that each child is an individual and needs to progress at his/her own pace. Our students are given many opportunities to participate in school activities.

Student Council is comprised of students in the upper grades. These students take leadership roles in school programs such as our annual Food Drive at Thanksgiving, school dances, and the school recycling program.

The Safety Patrol team consists of students in grades, fourth through eighth. Their duties and responsibilities include escorting younger students at dismissal and putting the American flag up each morning. This program helps to build our students' self-esteem and instill in them, a sense of responsibility.

The entire student body participates in both our annual Christmas Pageant and Talent Show. This is an opportunity for our talented students to perform for their families and friends. All students have a special part in these productions.

The Academy has recreational basketball teams which play at the school. All games are scheduled at the Academy gym on Saturday mornings during January and February. A dedicated core of parent volunteers work with the players to convey the fundamentals of basketball as well as good sportsmanship and the value of teamwork. Every player has the same opportunity to participate and play in all the games. Our cheerleaders are our team's most enthusiastic supporters. Any student, K-8th grade, may join the cheering squad (no try-outs). These students wear their green and gold uniforms proudly, attending all the season's basketball games. A faculty member serves as the cheerleading sponsor.

The Middle School Basketball Team travels to other local private schools for competitive basketball games. Students from the sixth through eighth grade participate in games with the middle school cheering squad cheering on.

Other exracurricular school activities include several different clubs such as the computer club, chess club, drama club, handbells and the book club.
